Making environmental issues more accessible

In simple terms we provide a one-stop-shop for client communications - why employ both an environmental consultant and designer when we offer two for the price of one?  A marine scientist, with a PhD in visual science communication, Dr Joanna Henley leads our team and is an expert in communicating scientific, or complex, messages in engaging visual ways.

Our experience of the environment sector tells us:

  1. Environmental issues are often misunderstood by the public
  2. Technical information can be offputting and uninspiring
  3. There is often a lack of trust in scientific research
  4. It can be difficult to engage with a target audience

In solution, we offer:

  1. Simple and accurate explanation of environmental issues
  2. Creative communication of technical information
  3. Widening participation by engaging with new audiences
  4. Information appropriateness for the target audience
Examples of how we do this...

Project Fisher

Project Fisher sought to develop a dialogue between fishermen and fisheries scientists.  More specifically, the project involved exploration of the most accessible ways in which to communicate the priorities of the fishing community, for future research into a Creel fishery.

Sciart Solutions devised an interpretation strategy including posters and 3D interactives, to present information to fishers in an engaging, yet unpatronising way.  We also produced visual interpretations of lobster stock assessment models for use by fishermen.

Invest in Fish Southwest

The research agenda for Invest in Fish Southwest was to investigate stakeholders perceptions of a sustainable future for southwest fishing.

SciArt Solutions was consultant to the development of the final report on the Invest in Fish Southwest project, writing content on the nature of the southwest marine environment and it’s effect on fishing, accessible for a lay audience.
